My twin sister and I had a third sibling three months at a time–30 of them. A part of my mother’s job is to host an optometry student for a rotation. The stories and experiences they shared were incredible. Mylar shared with us her stories with tears streaming down her face, about when she sprinted to the nearest bunker during a bombing in Sri Lanka. Mirjana escaped Albania during the civil war after her town had been slaughtered. Mark’s family was religiously persecuted in Iran and left his fortune to moving to the Detroit ghetto. The cycle of each extern brought new lessons and life experiences. Here are the stories of these incredible people that I was grateful to meet.
