The difference between some and the rest of this world is that the some understand and want to help with this crisis and other important crisis’s of our time. However, the majority lies in the rest of the world. These people overlook, don’t understand and have absolutely no compassion for what is going on.

Empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of another, taken from Merriam-Webster dictionary. A person who has empathy will understand and feel for the person that is helpless or in a bad situation. These people have the chance to help a friend or for but in the end they do help them.

Sympathy, feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else’s misfortune. These people don’t understand what it is like to be in this particular situation, “they” just know that it is a sad one for the people that are in need of comfort/help.

I know for a fact that there are more people in the sympathy column then in empathy, on this situation. Now that could be, because the majority of people in the U.S. never had to deal with, running away from their homeland and fleeing to another side of the globe. However, and I use however strongly, we cannot run or turn a blind eye to a mass population of people because we can’t fully understand what they are going through. Trust what these people say, listen and educate yourself on what is going on because if we don’t act now the epidemic could become larger than it already is.

Even if you don’t empathize with the refugees in the middle east. What you can do is help a person that is lost, hungry, tired of fighting a war that isn’t even theirs. We all feel those pains, we might even feel them everyday, so don’t empathize with a refugee, empathize a fellow global citizen.
