Quite a few people from Penn State BME have traveled to San Antonio, TX last week to participate in BMES Annual Meeting. Penn State faculties, graduate, and undergraduate students presented their outstanding research in both platform talks and poster sessions at the meeting. Further, at the Penn State booth, we interacted with other colleagues interested in our graduate programs and faculty positions. The next BMES annual meeting will be held at Tampa, FL, so please pay attention to abstract and register deadlines next year!

BMES members went out for a canning event, hosted by our President Johanna, on October 18th and 19th in Clearfield, PA. Bitting the chilly weather over the weekend, the members raised over $1,800!

BMES members visited Shaver’s Creek on Thursday October 16th to volunteer for the pumpkin carving event. This pumpkin carving was a part of preparation for the Fall Harvest Festival where these beautifully carved pumpkins will be decorated along the Children’s Halloween Trail. Today, BMES participated in the Involvement Fair in the Alumni Hall at HUB. A number of BMES current and future members stopped by at the booth and had great times with the executive board members. Penn State BMES members traveled to Seattle, WA to attend 2013 BMES Annual Meeting in last September. Many graduate students presented their research at platform and poster sessions. Also, undergraduate BMES members, Olivia and Yan, had great opportunities to explore national BMES community as representatives of Penn State BMES. Also, Penn State BME faculties and students worked at the Penn State booth to promote our programs and research.

Upcoming 2014 BMES Annual Meeting will be held in San Antonio, TX, on October 22 – 25. If you are interested in participating in the meeting, please contact the board member.
