Alyssa is a fourth year PhD student in Justin Brown’s lab where she works on 3D printing nanofiber scaffolds for meniscus tissue engineering.  She grew up just outside of Denver and enjoyed many of the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer. Alyssa graduated from CU Denver in 2021 with a degree in bioengineering. She enjoys going on long walks outdoors, as well as doing yoga and watching movies in her free time. She is the proud mother of cuddly furballs Bean and Lucy and a forest of plants!

Hello! I graduated from Lewis University with a degree in physics and Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering. When I am not in lab, I’m either reading, watching cartoons, or playing with my puppy. I’m a huge Disney nerd, so my dogs have all been named after Disney characters. My current dog is named after a hitchhiking ghost! My research focuses on the role of oxygenation, specifically hypoxia, on tendon degeneration. Additionally, I will be comparing our mouse Achilles explant model to human findings.

Angel is a third-year PhD student in Dr. Daniel Hayes’ lab investigating the delivery of microRNA for solid tumor treatment via nanoparticles or via CAR T cell immunotherapy. She was born in Delaware and completed her bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering at Florida Insititute of Technology. In her free time, she enjoys reading, walking her dog, and ice skating.

Hayley is a fourth year PhD student in Xiaojun Lance Lian’s lab investigating CRISPR systems for endogenous gene activation. She is from South Carolina where she received her BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of South Carolina – Go Gamecocks!  When Hayley is not in lab she enjoys listening to live music, capturing moments through film photography, and spending time outdoors.
