Living Cyrptids: Mothman

What advantage could a military have if it was able to deploy soldiers that could fly?  Not simply paratroopers but actual soldiers that can fly like birds…or moths.  Could the government have been experimenting with gene splicing in order to create this soldier?  What if it escaped?  This could very well be an explanation for the Mothman; a giant creature standing over seven feet tall with wings like a moth and glowing red eyes.  This very creature may have been a government experiment gone completely wrong and one that is now loose in the US.

The Mothman was first cited near Point Pleasant, WV.  Coincidentally, Point Pleasant is surrounded by military installations.  Most of them are National Guard stations but there may be something else there at those installations.  It would be the perfect place to do such experiments, away from wandering eyes.  If this was an experiment, gene splicing seems to be the most logical possibility for the creation of a creature like this.

Moth and human DNA wouldn’t be enough in order to create a creature of this sort.  Bat DNA could work due to the shared common ancestry between bats and humans allowing for a better bond (though the split is quite large).  The creature would have the strength of a human, vision from a moth, and wing structure of a bat.  These three DNA’s could be a good formula for such a creature.

Alone, this creature would not mean much if not for the incidents that followed its first sighting.  It was first sighted in November of 1966, and following this, multiple sightings followed.  One of these was when the creature was seen near a World War II TNT storage area, which was believed to be its nest.  Police took these sightings seriously and the search went on.  Eventually the hype died down, but on December 15, 1967, a woman noticed strange lights outside.  Soon after that, the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant collapsed killing 46 people.

Is the Mothman simply a large owl people are mistaking for something else, or is this Mothman an escaped military experiment?  Either way, the truth is out there.

I’ve only heard of the Mothman in passing, so I had no idea about all of these stories. That one about the bridge accident is kind of creepy, and so is the idea that the police legit looked for it. I dunno, man, I may be a believer.

I’ve read about mothman in horror books before and he seems like an interesting creature. The only problem I have with mothman is the fact that he’s so big, and he flies. I feel like it would be really easy to spot and identify him. He’s not a recluse like the yeti or bigfoot.
