For thousands of years, people around the world have been using onions for all sorts of respiratory conditions, including asthma.
Fresh Onion Recipes for Eating
I know it’s difficult for most people to eat fresh, raw onions. I, myself, absolutely adore them, however I understand their pungent aroma is not for everyone. To help my partner ingest more raw onions, I created the following recipes:
Cucumber Onion Salad:
Makes: roughly 4 servings (1 cup); Prep: 10 minutes Cook: 2 minutes
- 2 large cucumbers, cubed
- lime juice to taste, fresh or concentrate
- 1 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, diced
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (optional)
I chose to share this recipe as it does not include just onions, giving a very sharp and not pleasant taste. The ingredients are fairly simple and something almost anyone can prepare at home. Yogurt and cucumbers have their own health benefits, just adding to the onion mixture meant for asthmatic patients.
