Dear LEAP Freshman 2016,
Many of you may be reading this at home dreading the fact that you have to leave all your friends during your final Summer before everyone goes off there separate ways. That was how I was feeling this past June at least. Although this is a natural feeling, you should not be jealous of any of your friends who are staying home all summer long.
You will get the chance to navigate your way around campus with 2,000 kids rather than 40,000 which is a tremendous help that I am sure will help make your transition to taking a full course load much easier and smoother. In my first two weeks I discovered where my classes were and I made friends from both my pride and some from the same floor as me in my dorm.
You will experience many ups and downs but as time passes by but that will happen to everyone and you will never want to leave this incredible school. For example the first two weeks here were very slow for me until I realized what I had been doing wrong. I never went to any of the activities that my pride did such as the Spikes game and climbing Mount Nittany but when I started attending events with my pride and doing other fun activities, I started to have a lot of fun. Our pride went to play laser tag one night and it was one of my favorite memories from the summer along with when we went on a tour of Beaver Stadium and the All-Sports Museum.
Although you are going to be taking two classes this summer, it is not as easy as you may think. You still have to work your tail off and study every single night if you want to get a good grade in the class you are taking. Take advantage of your time here in the Summer as you will never forget it and you will set a solid foundation for your next 4 years at Penn State.
