Join us for an informal discussion on navigating academia as a woman of color. Light refreshments/snacks will be provided!
Jasmine A. Mena, PhD., is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and an affiliate of the Latin American Studies Program at Bucknell University. Her research examines the influence of oppression on the mental and physical health of members of marginalized social groups.
Questions that we may ask Dr. Mena include:
* What have been some of the unique challenges you have faced as a Latina in academia?
* Were any of these factors involved in your decision to accept your current position (or where you started)?
* How are the challenges different/same as those you might have experienced as a Latina in grad school?
* Given the family emphasis in Latino culture, how have you handled the work/life balance?
* You recently wrote/edited a book on integrating Multiculturalism and Intersectionality into Psychology. What can you tell us about the motivation behind this and how the above experiences have shaped or contributed to this book?
