Student success in engineering improved patient outcomes
Jessica González Vargas, a postdoctoral scholar in the School of Engineering Design and Innovation, is working to improve physician training on one of the most common medical procedures in the United States — placing a central line in a patient’s vein. González Vargas is part of a Penn State research team that has designed and implemented a novel robotic training program for physicians to gain experience in the procedure while aiming to reduce error rates and complications.
