Two wins on the bounce for Brandywine, as the Lions beat Hazleton 2-0.

A weighted pass into space from Gia Cetroni put Jess James one-on-one with the goalkeeper. She scored the goal that followed with some composure, waiting for the keeper to make the first move, then shooting through her legs for a Brandywine lead in the 32nd minute.

James penned her name on the scoresheet yet again, after she connected with a Hope Priemon cross just shy of the hour mark.

Brandywine was buoyed by a disorganized Hazleton, who registered one shot, zero corners, and whose goalkeeper, Linsey Fisk, was forced to make 13 saves.

Player-of-the-game and two-time goalscorer, Jess James, chalks up the recent run of form to communication.

“We’re talking way more than we did in the start of the season, and like I said, I think we got it now, I think we’re gonna go far, we got this now,” said James.

The midfielder from Yardley, PA. collected her second player-of-the-game award of the season. Her first came after a hat trick she scored in a 6-0 thumping of Valley Forge.

While she is the team’s highest-scoring player with six goals this season, James credits her teammates with her outstanding performances.

“I’m relying on my teammates, they are passing me the perfect passes, we’re making those connections, and we’re setting each other up and they’re setting me up,” she said.

Gia Cetroni also impressed on the afternoon, assisting James’ first goal. Her work rate, energy, and tenacity were all lauded on the broadcast. The third-year forward tops Brandywine’s assists chart.

Brandywine has won all three of their games since beating Hazleton, securing the #2 seed in the PSUAC tournament. They are back in action at noon on Oct. 29 in the PSUAC semi-final against an undecided opponent. They hope to play in the conference final at State College on Nov. 2 at noon.
