There is still time to register to vote at Penn State Brandywine

Volunteers on campus are spreading the word about voting on campus, asking if students are registered and helping them if they are not.

Voting is very important and every vote matters. Deo Valenzuela, a student at Penn State Brandywine says, “Voting is extremely important to the democracy of the United States.” The internet has made it very accessible and easy to register.

In Pennsylvania unregistered voters can go to the government website to register. Make sure to have ID ready as it is needed to register. The last day to register is Oct. 24 and the last day to request a mail-in or absentee ballot is Nov. 1.

For help and general questions Dr. Christine Brown, the coordinator of the Brandywine Learning Center, said, “Go to the Center for Social Impact, in the lower level of Vario Building, for any questions you may have about getting registered; they have voter registration drives that you can go to as well.” Dr. Christine Brown has also said that their students can come to them, and they will help them register to vote. They are located in the Brandywine Learning Center or the Main Building in room 312.

The election is quickly approaching on Nov. 8. Do not delay in getting registered. Voting is a very important part of being a U.S citizen. Mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. On election day the polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 8.

The two most important seats up for election this year are governor and a Senate seat. For governor, Democrat Josh Shapiro is running against Republican Doug Mastriano. While for Senate, Republican Mehmet Oz is running against Democrat John Fetterman. To see local congressional candidates please click here.
