Particle-laden turbulence and biological propulsion

New article in IJMF

Check out our new journal article, “Slip velocity of large low-aspect-ratio cylinders in homogeneous isotropic turbulence” just published in the International Journal of Multiphase Flow!  We examine the kinematics of large cylinders in turbulence, and their relationship to the flow around them.  This is a first step toward a general understanding of large nonspherical particles in turbulence (e.g. sediment, aggregates, or large pollutants like microplastics) and the interplay between their own inertia and the fluid moving around them.
