I believe in Concern for others. Concern is one thing that I have been cherishing my whole life. My whole life I have watched other people around me model this ethical principle of concern and respect for others. One example of concern for others is when someone in my community was sick or has passed away, neighbors and friends would take food and groceries to that person’s house to help and comfort.
Another example of concerns for others would be when my high school basketball team would fundraise and play charity games for Cancer. This made a big impact in my life by showing me that the simplest things you do by just caring, concerning and wanted the best for other people could help them in so many ways.
An important example of concerns for others would be a true friend I have made in high school by the name of Daniel. Daniel has down-syndrome. Some things you should know about Daniel are he is the sweetest kid you’ll ever talk to, his heart is bigger than the moon, and when you are down he will pick you right up when you see him. I would see Daniel walking in the halls of school and always having the biggest smile on his face and greeting you every time with a welcoming hello. One day I stopped and talked to him and gave him a hug and told him that he just made my day by saying hello to me and being so nice. Little did I know that from that day on me and Daniel would become best friends. He has made an impact on my life more than I could ever imagined. Seeing him cheering me on in sports, getting so excited every time he would see me, and telling me how happy he is that I am his friend means everything to me. Just a simple hello out of care and respect made such a big impact on my life because I gained an amazing friend like Daniel.
Lastly, a perfect example of concerns for others would be my mother. My mother is teacher at a Junior College in Scranton, PA. She will do anything for a student in need. She works her tail off to make sure each of her students have someone to talk to and someone who will fight for them no matter what the circumstance is. Her will and passion to help and make sure someone succeeds in life is something I’ve seen and tried to do more so in my life. She has the biggest heart and I can’t explain how proud I am to call her my mom. She has always been a mother that put her family before herself in everything. She is always concerned about my brother and I and making sure everything is okay with us before herself. As I grow older, I see how much she has done and what she has done for me, and the amount of respect and love I have for her is unconditional. She has taught me so much and I hope to use it in my lifetime and become hopefully half as decent as a parent as she was for me.
