Blog Number 1 – This I believe by Nicolas Chambers

I believe in facing the fears that lie within us. We all have things that keep us from achieving the greatest form of ourselves. Things that find home in the deepest part of our mind that remind us why we shouldn’t do something. Breaking down these fears and getting past them is what makes us the strongest person we can be. For me, I learned at a very young age that there is no reason to not face your fears because my biggest fear transpired right in front of my eyes.

When I was seven years old my father passed away after battling cancer and I instantly felt like my world was turned upside down. But after months to a year of mourning I came to a realization that nothing could hurt me or affect me the way that losing my father did and I let that motivate me to never be afraid. Whenever fear came into my mind, I had no problem taking a risk to get past it.

For example, when I was starting college at Penn State I knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur and start my own business either in college or after college. Because of my past experiences with dealing with my fears and taking risks to overcome them I was able to quickly do what I needed to do. I had to call lawyers, talk to professionals who had been in business for longer than I have been alive, and do things I never had done before. But I knew that by taking these risks and moving past my fear I would be able to become the best form of myself. By eliminating the idea of risk and fear from your life I believe that you can accomplish anything you could ever want to.

Obviously my father passing away was and is a horrible thing, but it taught me something. If you want to become a happier, more successful and stronger person then you need to stop being afraid of the things that stop you. Take risks in areas you wouldn’t before. Seek out your fears and eliminate them so they can not hold you back anymore. Getting past your fears makes you a determined person that sees the world as full of opportunity instead of full of fear. I decided sixteen years ago that I would not allow my fear to determine how I lived my life, I believe that by you doing the same you will become a more opportunistic successful person.
