Our life can be extremely chaotic. Juggling busy schedules, tough workloads, and everything in between. It is easy to get lost in the mess, overwhelmed, and end up feeling broken. But that is why it is so important to find something in our day that will always bring us peace and happiness. Whether that is hanging with friends, singing, watching TV, or something else, even the simplest of things can turn our mess of a day around. I believe in finding a passion or a hobby that makes you happy, as it will make your overall quality of life so much better.
I spent a lot of my life wondering what the key to my happiness was. Yes, I loved my friends and family, and have been given so many blessings over the years, however, there was always a piece of me that felt something was missing. I was craving something to be passionate about. I had a friend in high school who was an amazing artist. She would spend hours a day happily drawing the most detailed and beautiful pictures. And even though barely anyone would see her work, that didn’t matter. To her, it was just about doing something that made her happy. For a while, I was envious of her. Not because she could draw and I couldn’t, but because she had a hobby in her life that she loved, and I didn’t. Without a hobby, it was easy for me to feel lost, like I had nothing to turn to on bad days.
It wasn’t until college that I had actually discovered my passion, and I would never had guessed that fitness and the gym would be my key to happiness. Since I started lifting at the gym about three years ago, I have seen such a tremendous change in my life. Not only am I healthier, but happier. The gym to me is my sanctuary. It’s the place I go on good days, and especially on my bad days. It’s my favorite time of the day, everyday. To me, fitness is so much more than getting a “good body”, it’s about teaching myself consistency, hard work, and keeping myself accountable. I have learned so much about fitness, nutrition, and living a healthy lifestyle. I have finally found that piece that makes me feel whole, and I take comfort knowing I will be able to find happiness at the gym for many years to come. I hope that everyone can find that one thing that makes them happiest, as it will improve your life in so many ways.
