Weekly Story Idea #4_ Ryan Worthy

Focus: While covering the Bellefonte Area School District’s event on safety and privacy in social media for teenagers on Thursday evening, I would create a package that offers further insight and advice on the topic for all ages and interview people trained in field of using social media professional.

People in Story: Since the lead in to the story deals with the coverage of the event, some main people would include the guest speakers talking about social media. Also I would try to get reactions from parents and their children to whom attend the event. But for the extra part of the story, I’d like to interview a professional who uses social media as a major part of their job

Key Details: The information and perspective from the professional insight could offer great understanding and details about social media and what potential dangers it has in the work place. By doing this, it would apply perspective across all age groups rather than what tonight’s event is categorizing (primarily for teens). Also I would like to gather some statistics on the correlation between job applicant’s social media pages and employers’ decisions on hiring an applicant.

Beginning Middle and End: The beginning would start with the quick coverage of Bellefonte Area School District’s event and capturing the reaction from parents and students. The middle would then analyze the use of social media by adults and other age ranges while showing clips of an expert in social media and the potential benefits and harms it has (especially when applying to a job). The end would include the advice from both the expert and the people talking at tonight’s event on how to manage your social media and showing the stats I mentioned in the key details (the direct or indirect relationship between employers’ decisions to hire a person based of how presentable their social media is).
