Weekly Story Idea 5 Mayer

1. The Focus of this week’s story is on the national outbreak of Ebola. I know I did a story on this prior, but it was very scarce and not inbred into our nation yet. Now it is a more pressing issue. I want this to be a more localized story and actually know what people think in regards to the new disease.

2. The People that would best tell this story are doctors in the community. Especially at Penn State. Given we have a huge alumni base, it is not unheard of that a Penn State alum god-forbid could get the virus. I want to know what the plan of action would be to contain the students without health issue and what the emergency plan is, if any. Also I would like to take information from the doctors and relay to the students to get their reaction.

3. Key Details include: explaining the virus, where the virus came from and where it currently is, express the distance of how far the virus traveled and how far it is from us now.

4. Beginning: Show healthy happy students

Middle: Story of people panicked in this part of the nation worried about the virus.

End: Explain how  it is not too far from us and that we need to be cautious and begin planning and discussing with medical professionals on risk strategies.

5. Other Materials: Pictures of the original patients credited to the photographer
