Axel: People in Centre County now have the option to text 911 instead of calling, if need be. This allows for more lines to be open and people who are in less than ideal calling situations to be able to get in touch with emergency responders as soon as possible.
Riders: The people I would interview would be a dispatcher at the 911 call center and a police officer.
Spokes: Details could include things like the amount of 911 calls received each month in Centre County, the time of response from emergency services via phone vs. via text, and specifics about how the texting service will operate.
Rim:
- Beginning: I would make this a pretty short segment. I would start the segment off with a shot of a dispatcher picking up the phone saying “911 what is your emergency?” A voice over of the reporter would then talk about the standard way of reaching emergency services (calling) and how often Centre County dispatchers are called.
- Middle: Then an interview with the dispatcher would talk about the process of the dispatch center and how immediate they are able to reach emergency services. Then the stand up of the reporter would happen: she would inform viewers of the new texting service that is offered in Centre County.
- End: After that a voice over would continue while there are shots of a police officer in his car. Then an interview with the police officer would inform viewers of the service, how it works, and how it will be beneficial to all involved. The segment would end with the reporter signing off.
