Halloween weekend is upon us here at Penn State and with it comes the frenzy of a home football game. This Saturday, the Nittany Lions will take on the Fighting Illini of the University of Illinois and seek to improve their conference record. Despite, coming off of a BIG TEN win against the University of Maryland, many Penn State fans feel that it may be time to fire Offensive Coordinator, John Donovan. His questionable play calls and lack of offensive production this season has many questioning his role with the program.
Bicycle Wheel Format:
The Axis: The focus of the story deals with the thoughts and opinions surrounding John Donovan’s performance as the team’s Offensive Coordinator. After an extremely dissapointing loss to Temple to begin the season, and close calls with Army and Maryland, Donovan’s play calling ability and quality of offensive production is not cutting it for Penn State players and fans.
The Riders: The best people to help tell this story would be an array of Penn State alumni that consider themselves to be dedicated fans. Also, current and past players/coaches that have worked with Donovan would give educated opinions on his offensive scheme and how effective he has been as a Penn State coach
The Spokes: Memorable moments and soundbites would come from this weekend’s football action. VO could detail the events of the game, shots of Donovan on the sideline, his interactions with players and post game press conference. SOT could come from Donovan himself, players, fans and other coaches. Lastly, the stand-up could take place either outside the stadium, in the press room, or even on the field.
The Rim: Ultimately, the story would detail the Donovan’s performance as Penn State’s offensive coordinator this year and how fans, players and other coaches feel about the success/failures of his offensive scheme. It is a story that would have apply to a vast Penn State football  audience and include insider information that consumers directly seek out.
