As I reflect back on my semester in Comm 465, I can vividly remember the fun and the laughter the class had together. We had such a fun, and supportive class. Everyone was willing to give positive feedback and constructive criticism, which I personally greatly appreciated.
This class helped me develop my editing skills, which is a huge tool that I will need to know for my future career. I came into C465 with minimal editing knowledge. I had previously taken Comm 481, and that helped me become familiar with adobe, but I was no where near as good as I am now. C465 taught me to focus on attention to detail. As my stories progressed, I found myself wanting to constantly improve my work. Every little detail mattered and I wanted my project to look “professionally” done.
Other than editing, C465 taught me to show my true personality on camera. With a big personality like mine, it’s nice to be able to show your fun and outgoing side while on camera. I want to be known for my extravagant personality and not just as a plain reporter/anchor. This class taught us to embrace that fun side and let the audience see your true personality because it gives them a humanized angle.
I enjoyed working in groups and being able to collaborate with other students on projects. Although 5 people was somewhat difficult because everyone had different schedules, it was nice to hear everyones’ opinions on how the video should be compiled. I did like when we switched to slightly smaller groups though because it made it easier to find times to work together. It was also nice to work in small groups because it made the work seem more evenly dispersed, because each person could help with both the filming and the editing.
Among these many things, my favorite part of the class was the friendships I made. Although Dr. Z was annoyed at how much we all got distracted and laughed at one another, these memories are the ones I will remember the most. Thanks to C465 I have great friends and future connections in the broadcast field.
Thanks for the great year everyone, I have enjoyed this class so much! Seriously? Yes.
