The Axle: The story I would focus on is how big the impact from Pink Zone has been on the entire state and what Pink Zone is looking to do in the future to increase their impact. I would like to profile one of the Board of Directors, more specifically Linda Gall who is really active on the board.
The Riders: I would like to profile Gall to see what direction the board is looking to take the Pink Zone too. Since the Penn State’s women’s basketball team is the first team to have pink jerseys, I would like to interview Kathy Drysdale who is Penn State’s marketing manager in order to find out the impact this has on the Pink Zone game. I like to interview a senior player on the team to get her thoughts on what the game means for her personally. I would also like to talk to some of the organizations like Mt. Nittany Medical Center who have gotten money from the Pink Zone. I also would interview the breast cancer survivors who attend the Pink Zone game to see what impact it has on them.
The Spokes: Like stated above, I would get sound from Linda Gall, Kathy Drysdale, a women’s basketball player and sound from organizations receiving benefits from the Pink Zone. Nat sound would be from inside the equipment room showing off the jerseys and shooting hoops with the basketball player. I would do a stand up outside of Mt. Nittany Medical center to show an example of what type of organization benefits from Pink Zone funds. Also, sound from interviewing the women affected by breast cancer who want to share their Pink Zone stories.
The Rim
Beginning: I would start with natural sound in the basketball gym with the voice over talking about how a game can impact people’s lives in a phenomenal way and how the Pink Zone game is important in the community. I’d cut to the interview with the basketball player and have B-roll of her shooting in the gym while the interview is going.
Middle: I’d show the interview with Kathy Drysdale talking about the pink jerseys and play B-roll of what the jerseys look like. Then introduce what the organization Pink Zone does and give statistics of how much money they raise. I would cut to board of director Linda Gall’s interview then transition into my stand up talking about the different types of organizations get money donated from Pink Zone.
End: I would show an interview with a breast cancer survivor who attends the Pink Zone games explaining what the game means to them. Then I’d close with Linda Gall explaining what plan the Pink Zone has for the future.
