The Axle:  The purpose of this news report will be to inform viewers that current State College high school vice principal, Chris Weakland has officially been named as the athletic director of the city of State College.  Current athletic director, Peg Pennepacker, is stepping aside come July 1 and entering retirement.

The Riders:  I would talk to local residents along with former colleagues of Weakland to get their opinions of him.  Also, it would be good to get comments from the principal at State College high as well as any figures in local government currently who nominated him to the 9-0 vote.  Outgoing State College athletic director, Peg Pennepacker would be an ideal person to get comments from.

The Spokes:  I would get NAT sound from local residents with children who play sports and authority figures in and around the State College High School area who may have opinions of Weakland from their time working or interacting with him.  As I stated earlier, sound from Peg Pennepacker would be ideal along with her point of view on how holding the title of athletic director of State College has been the past 33 years along with what has changed and where she views Weakland will take it.  I would do a standup from outside the State College High School football field or better yet at the local YMCA office and report on the steps Weakland is set to endure in the coming months.

The Rim:

Beginning:  I would begin my package explaining who Chris Weakland is, his reasoning to run for the State College athletic director position, and his extensive background serving in the State College High School district for more than 20 years.  I would talk about the impact he has had on students at State College High School over the years and his legacy.

Middle:  Much like I said before, I would do a stand up probably outside the State College High School football field or YMCA (somewhere sports oriented since the story is solely about local athletics).  This would be a great location because kids could be playing basketball in the background and parents of the children could be available for comments on what they expect the future of local sports to be when Weakland assumes his role.

End:  To wrap up, I would sum up the impact Weakland will bring to the city of State College come July 1.  I would include comments from hopefully outgoing athletic director Peg Pennepacker reflecting on her career and how she sees Chris Weakland improving things from here on out.  Overall, this would be a story that many locals with children who are actively participating in sports would be interested in.
