Tetralogy of Fallot has only made Wyatt Schaffer stronger

STATE COLLEGE, Pa- Wyatt Schaffer is a 15 year old Freshman in High School and he has Tetralogy of Fallot. Despite being in the hospital for the majority of his childhood he hasn’t let that stop him from living life.

“A woman we had never me, who turned out to be his pediatrician came into the room and told us our son had this major medical heart condition and that without open heart surgery he would not live.” Wyatt”s mother Tara Schaffer said that her family did not know that Wyatt had this disease when he was born, but found out a day later.

“I can’t play some of the sports I want to play that take too much energy for me to play them”. Wyatt loves football, but can’t play because of his energy. Instead, he throws the football around with his Dad and younger brother in the backyard a lot.

Wyatt”s mother Tara, says that he is an incredibly strong kid, and that she doesn’t want to lessen anyone else’s struggle but some of the things they other kids complain about Wyatt could do it without a drop of a hat.

To fill his time Wyatt plays a lot of video games and baseball games are his favorite. He also got involved with Golf last year and really enjoys it.
