For my second weekly story, I want to ask if bars and restaurants should go back to having capacity restrictions due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. This past weekend was the white out football game, and Beaver Stadium was packed with 109,000 people, and bars were also packed after the game. Even though downtown State College now has a mask mandate, social media videos showed that almost no one was wearing a mask.
Axle: I want my viewer to understand that even though most people in Centre County are vaccinated, COVID-19 cases are still surging and packed and unmasked indoor spaces, can lead to a surge in breakthrough cases. Especially with the delta variant.
Riders: The best people to tell this story are bartenders and restaurant managers and workers. They are the people that still have to wear masks while working and are around people all the time. So I would ask them if they are concerned with the rise in cases and not wearing masks.
Spokes: I don’t think this story will require a lot of b-roll. I think the only b roll will be bartenders serving drinks and people not wearing masks at night during big concerts. Along with soundbites from the bartenders and restaurant managers.
Rim:
Beginning: Introduce the whiteout game and then the scene after at restaurants
Middle: Say how despite the rise in COVID-19 cases and the mask mandate, people are not following it and also pitch the idea of capacity limits again.
End: Stand up outside of Champs wearing a mask.
