The Axel- This week, I would like to hone in on how impactful was having the white out back for downtown bussiness. Ideally, I want to keep my focus on the retail stores because it’s been over a year since a flow of revenue that a prime time football game brings has occured. I want to see how the retail businesss responded to the large crowds and if they surpassed the number of sales they imagined.
The Riders- The best people to tell this story would be the owners and employees of the downtown retail shops. Their first hand experience of working during a pandemic and past white outs will provide great context. Along with what they experienced as far as sales and crowds this past weekend.
The Spokes- I would to get footage of sales being made and the sound of registers ringing. I believe that interviews of the owners of the shops will bring a deeper insight into the daily process of running a college reatil store. The footage could show employees moving merchandise and folding shirts. Lastly, I think interviewing the employees to get their opionins on how different working a white out weekend compared any other weekend is.
The Rim- To conclude this story, I think it would be impactful to go over how meanigful and symbolic the whiteout weekend is to local retail shops. White out weekends are typically where local retail shops making a large portion of their year profit. With over a year since the last whiteout, it apperared to be a large turn out for whiteout merchandise at downtown shops this past weekend.
Beginning- discuss how reatail shops are usually during home football games and how the pandemic has altered their business. Along with how they’re responding with shopping occuring more.
Middle- Get interviews with employees and owners, to get their take on business during and post pandemic.
End- I want to focus on ending with the connectiom between the retail employees and the customers, ultimately becausue both sides benefit each other.
