The Axle: My weekly story is about the four home games in a row for Penn State and how the Office of Physical Plant (OPP) and Penn State staff deal with setting up and cleaning tailgates/game day festivities for a month straight. What is the logistical process that happens on a weekly basis behind the scenes?

The Riders: This story would apply to any Centre County locals as well as Penn State football fans who attend or have attended home games in Beaver Stadium. I also think an average college football fan could be interested in this story because a similar process most likely occurs at other universities across the country.

The Spokes: I would get footage of OPP workers and Penn State staff setting up and then cleaning up during a home-game weekend. Interviews with workers who are involved in setting up tailgates to see how they tackle the huge task each week. I would do my stand up before the tailgate spots have been set up, and show the IM fields or Lot 11, explaining that it would soon become a sea of Penn State fans barbecuing and drinking before the game begins.

The Rim:

Beginning: Footage of the areas around Beaver Stadium before the game will show the amount of work that goes into hosting a home-game, and how they set it up. Video of the empty stadium and tailgate spots will help with the pace of the story.

Middle: I would show videos of the workers placing the parking-spot stoppers and setting up the trash bag dispensers. I would try to include statistics about how many people travel to State College to tailgate on game-day. A possible interview with someone involved in athletics would also help the story. Showing the hectic tailgate scene will also add to the story by showing how much work goes into facilitating tailgates.

End: By showing footage of the trash and carnage after the game, the story will begin to come to a close. I would include workers cleaning up and disposing of  trash in the same fields and places shown in the middle of the story. A final shot of the piles of trash bags would help the viewers understand just how serious the Penn State staff takes tailgating.
