Throughout this experience of this first project, I came to an understanding that I feel comfortable with a camera, but I still have much to learn. There is a lot of room for improvement in my editing, filming and standup abilities. Me and my group- me, Gabe Angieri and Jordan Hession- al worked really hard on working together and having everything look as good as it could. While we had some small issues with the equipment, we overcame it and got some good shots and I think we ultimately did a good job. Another thing I learned is the importance of getting as many shots as you can. There is no such thing as too much footage. In editing, we had to get creative with our shots. I also learned that being creative with the filming process not only makes for a more engaging final project, but it also makes the process of filming much more fun and enjoyable. All in all, I had a great time working on this project and am looking forward to project #2, but there is much room for improvement. Throughout my broadcasting career, it will be important to learn, adjust and grow in my skills both on camera and behind the camera, as well as the editing process. One’s effectiveness in any career is determined by the way they can adjust and learn on the fly. I feel as if this is particularly important in the broadcasting field. This first time filming a package helped prove that theory I have. Since we were having issues with the equipment, we as a group had to come together and overcome our lack of experience. Now, we are much more comfortable with the equipment and we plan on doing a much better job for the second project coming up.
