Idea: My story will be on the Penn State student who made the HUB shooting threats for Monday October 13th
Axle: I want my viewers to understand about the shooting threat made by Penn State student, Jong Seong Shim, 20, and how serious this threat was. I also would like to take the approach of showing my audience how social media outlets such as YikYak can be extremely detrimental.
Riders: The best people to tell this story are State College police department, Police Chief Tyrone Parham, Penn State University Police, Yik Yak headquarters and students.
Spokes: I would b-roll of Shim being taken into custody by police, SOTs from Parham and other police officials, b-roll shots from the HUB and also SOTs from students and hopefully Yik Yak employees or even student representatives for the app.
The Rim-
Beginning: I would use NAT sound and b-roll footage from outside and inside of the HUB and then move into footage of Shim being arrested by the State College police.
Middle: I would transition to SOTs from Chief Parham and then move onto the subject of how Yik Yak is detrimental to campus because students can hide behind their cell phones without revealing their identities when posting. I would use SOTs from students talking about how the app has negatively affected their lives.
End: I would end my story with more SOTs from Parham and how cases like this should never be taken lightly.
