Kim Connors Weekly Story Idea 8

The Axle: The Cancer Survivors Association held their annual 50 Mile Tussey Mountainback Relay and Ultramarathon last Sunday, and now they are partnering the race with Totes For Hope, a local support group for people with cancer and they are looking for donations. Although the race has ended, donations are still able to be made.

The Riders: Linda Lochbaum (president of the Cancer Survivors Association), Mike Casper (the race director), those who participated in the race

The Spokes: B-roll of people working with The Cancer Survivors Association and Totes For Hope putting together the tote bags that are made for people diagnosed with cancer; B-roll of people diagnosed with cancer receiving their Totes For Hope; interview with Lochbaum explaining what their organization does for those diagnosed with cancer and why they have chosen to pair with Totes For Hope; interview with Casper explaining the success of the race and how they feel about continuing to work with The Cancer Survivors Association in order to raise more money and why they are looking for more donations; interviews with competitors in last weeks race discussing how they feel about the cause and what participating in this race means to them personally; videos and pictures provided by The Cancer Survivors Association from last weeks race

The Rim:

Beginning – Start with footage from last week’s race explaining the Tussey Mountainback Relay and Ultramarathon that occurred and then transition to b-roll of totes for Totes For Hope being made, with V/O explaining that although the race may have ended, The Cancer Survivors Association is continuing to work with the race directors in order to have even more money made for the cause.

Middle – Interviews with Linda Lochbaum explaining what their organization does for those diagnosed with cancer and why they have chosen to pair with Totes For Hope, including a brief discussion of how they feel working on putting together the Tussey Mountainback Relay and Ultramarathon; interviews with Mike Casper explaining the success of the race and what it means for them to pair with The Cancer Survivors Association and why they are looking for more donations, interviews with race participants talking about what it was like to participate in the race and what it means to them personally and why they want to give to a charity such as this

End – I think it would be nice to end with a compilation of photos of the race winners and other participants that show how excited they get about events like this, and then have b-roll of people diagnosed with cancer receiving their Totes For Hope with V/O explaining that donations can be made on the Tussey Mountainback Relay and Ultramarathon website for the next few weeks.
