Centre County Paws has been sheltering dogs and cats for over 30 years in State College, PA. Established in 1980, the establishment helps to foster animals that are sick or need homes while trying to keep owners, prospective owners and the community informed on how to best take care of their pets and assist them with any types of care the animals might need.
The foster home also offers many resources for just about any type of needs the animals may have including vet appointments, spay and neuter assistance and emergency care among others. The shelter is run and sustained by many volunteers who dedicate their time to helping clean, feed, play with and exercise the cats and dogs that call Center County Paws home.
Donna Clapper, a volunteer at Paws, says she can talk about the animals forever; particularly dogs.
“They’re all very sweet and it’s such a pleasure working with them,” she said. I’ve been volunteering here for a while now and I really enjoy it. These animals all deserve good homes.”
Donna tries to foster the animals as much as she can but has animals of her own to take care of.
“I’ve got three dogs of my own at home.” She said. “If I had room for them I’d take them in a second.”
As the holiday season approaches, Center County Paws is trying to foster off its animals in order to give them comfortable homes to enjoy for the time being. It’s their way of trying to spread some of the holiday joy – because it’s Christmas for the animals, too.
