Blog 6 Class Reflection

This past semester the first of my senior I took Comm 465 under professor Bu Zhong. The class was twice a week for roughly two hours.  The class was 4 hours a week, but we learned more due to the work outside of the classroom.  We put together feature stories and profile stories as well as a hard news package.  This let us touch on different aspects of putting together a story. I feel this was great experience and exposure for me on camera.

Professor Zhong was a very knowledgable instructor, that did not just give you a grade, but wanted to make sure that you understood where your mistakes were. He was always willing and available to help every student improve to their fullest potentials. He always shared his knowledge and experience to give us real life perspectives of the field we all are entering into.

On the hard news package we had the option to work with foreign students from Beijing. This gave us the opportunity to interact with people of a different culture. I think this was one of the coolest and best experiences I have had in college. Sometimes you forget about the outside world, and this put many things into perspective for me.

Not only did we do packages, we learned how to use those packages to show off our skills to potential employers.  He has us making a website, and updating our resumes to make sure that we have every opportunity to be successful. I feel he cared about our well being and success. We touched on all aspects, but he made sure that we all knew one before moving onto the next. I never felt him rush through anything, and he was always willing to review things again and again.

I truly feel I got more than just a grade from professor Zhong.  I feel I have gained experience and knowledge that will help me in the long run. I feel way more confident in the career path I choose then I did the first day I walked into his class back in August. He truly wanted to prepare us for our careers, and it turned out to be a success. He was one of the better professors I have had in my college career, and I really enjoyed being in his class.
