I believe in Traveling
Our education is incomplete without traveling. Since the beginning of time, every student has taken exams, studied for quizzes, written essays and solved math problems. But only some of us experience travelling. And even a smaller fraction explores the world on our own.
To me, traveling is more than just exploring a new city or trying new food. Travelling is experiencing new cultures, self-awareness, jumping into the unknown and learning the unimaginable. Traveling continues the teaching process that starts in the classroom, and continues into the outside world. It facilitates you to relive history by visiting the remnants of Berlin Wall, and explore global landmarks, such as the Eiffel tower in Paris and the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
Some people argue that they don’t have the time, or money to travel. But when I think about travelling, I don’t necessarily think of making extravagant trips to the other side of the world. Some people forget that taking a day trip to your state’s capitol can be just as rewarding, informative and fun. Its just the matter of wanting to go somewhere unknown and capturing it in its full essence: the food, the music, the traditions, and the people. Everything that makes a place unique matters, and how you view this is completely up to you. That’s the beauty of traveling; it’s a different experience for everyone, but its something you’ll cherish forever. You’ll remember the good days, filled with adventure as you hiked the Cliffs of Moher, and had sushi for dinner while overlooking the city of Tokyo. But surprisingly enough, you’ll learn to treasure the bad days, equally as much as the good. Every delayed flights, missed train, and language barrier will be just as meaningful.
The balance of both the good and bad, keeps you in place. And looking back, you’ll appreciate both experiences equally as important. The good because you got to experience incredible things you always dreamed off, and the bad because it forced you to adjust plans, relax and just simply enjoy it all, no matter how long your flight was delayed. See, that’s what I mean with traveling, its more than just the sightseeing, it’s the journey that gets you there and the obstacles you face and how you solve them, that make it worthwhile.
As St. Augustine once said, “The world is a book and those who do not travel, read only one page.” To me this quote captures every beauty about travelling. The world is meant to be explored and admired. But none of this can truly be done from the comforts of your own room. It’s meant to be lived out of your comfort zone, as you take a deep dive into the unknown and experience new customs and traditions. I believe that traveling teaches you beyond the class room, and helps you became more aware of your surroundings and yourself. Learnings that will stay with you wherever your next journey takes you.
