To understand fully the different aspects of Tiberius’ rule of the Roman Empire, we must first look at the Roman Empire itself. This section will fully go over all of the events from the fall of the Roman Republic, all of Augustus’ ruling, and his fall as well. This section will lay out the key players in the construction of the Roman Empire, and will then go further in-depth into Augustus’ Principate ruling.  

“Principate”: A period of the Roman Empire (27BC-284AD) which is characterized by the illusion of emperors trying to preserve aspects of the Roman Republic.
Once we have seen exactly how the Roman Empire was created, and how Augustus had ruled it, it will be easier to see how Tiberius’ rule went against the Principate period of Augustus.
