About Kripa (Student researcher): Kripa is from Kathmandu, Nepal. She received her undergraduate degree in forestry from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and Master of Science in Forestry from Mississippi State University, USA. Kripa joined the Doctorial program in Dr. Melissa Kreye’s lab at Penn State University in 2021. As a graduate research assistant, her research topics at Dr. Kreye’s lab includes forest resource management, climate change, gender roles, and economic and social values of private forest lands.

About Melissa: Dr. Kreye is an Assistant Professor of Forest Resources Management in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management and an Extension Specialist at Pennsylvania State University. Her extension programs include the Forest Owner Carbon and Climate Education program and Effective Environmental Outreach Strategies. Recent research projects examine landowner interest in forest carbon payments and opportunities to use prescribed fire as a forest management tool.

About Jennifer: Jennifer Gagnon has coordinated the Virginia Forest Landowner Education Program at Virginia Tech since 2005. She develops educational programs and materials for thousands of forest landowners throughout Virginia every year. These include short courses, field tours, a quarterly newsletter and website, the Virginia Forest Landowner Update, and numerous publications on a variety of forest management topics.
