The CARES Survey and Database will benefit Penn State, as a whole, by upholding six of the Kellogg Commission’s seven principles of engagement, including:
- Responsiveness – the CARES Survey identifies stakeholders’ perceptions and priorities, so that the university may respond with activities that are tailored to their preferences
- Respect for partners – the CARES survey enables more stakeholders to define the university’s research and engagement agendas;
- Accessibility – the CARES Database enables more stakeholders to access information and knowledge about quality of life in Pennsylvania
- Integration – the CARES Survey identifies stakeholders’ willingness to participate in engagement project activities to promote experiences that meet their respective needs
- Coordination – the CARES survey can help attract and coordinate partners from across colleges and units (e.g. Extension) to work on traditional and new issues
- Resource partnerships – the CARES Survey could include an asset-mapping component to determine mutual and unique resources among stakeholders
