After listening to Noelia’s civic artifact speech on climate change, I was very intrigued. I loved the way she introduced her topic with this or that questions. Not only did it allow the listener to learn what the speech was going to be about, but it also engaged us to really consider our own personal answers to those questions. Then, when she came full circle with those questions at the conclusion, I was able to fully reflect on her message; it made me realize how our everyday actions can really have an impact on the planet, whether that be positive or negative.
As for the content of her pitch, I enjoyed learning about the “Just Stop Oil” movement, and how activists are reacting to the world’s current standing on climate change action, or I guess I should say, lack of action. Furthermore, I liked how she arranged the speech; by providing sufficient context for her topic, she was able to smoothly transition into discussing the different rhetorical devices she would go on to use when drafting her essay. In fact, I especially like how she is focusing on the lenses of dramatism and social movement studies, as this will help her fully analyze her civic artifact, and have a powerful message.
Overall, her elevator pitch was effective, and I am excited to learn more.
Thank you for your feedback and input! I’m glad that my pitch was easy to follow and that my use of rhetorical questions throughout had the effect I intended. It’s interesting to see other perspectives on my work and I will make sure to focus my essay and speech on the points that stood out most during the pitch.
I also was a big fan of Noelia’s speech, I was intrigued by how she slowed down to ask the this-or-that questions at the beginning of her speech. The invention or her speech itself was great, but her confidence and delivery elevated her pitch to be even more impactful!
I too think that she did a great job. I also especially liked the questions she chose to begin her speech with. Strong openings are essential to a great speech and hers was quite effective and memorable. What stood out to me the most was her invention which I think was very well put together.
I also think she did a very good job. The use of questions to interact with the audience at the start was an attention grabber and a great form of style. It is crucial to grab people’s attention at the start, and I think she did just that. Overall great analysis of her speech and I agree she did well!
