A single can of gasoline, oil, or dissolvent can pollute millions of liters of water. The water we wash the dishes with. The water we bathe in. The water we drink. Water pollution often goes unnoticed; however, it is a very real and prevalent issue in the world today. Meanwhile, the civic artifact aims to bring awareness to the environmental struggle we are currently facing today while drawing upon our desire to conserve the wilderness. Therefore, by putting into use the commonplace of the wilderness, the photograph evokes a sense of preservation.
(I would then go into challenging this commonplace, and later mention my second artifact to amplify my analysis.)
Very concise and well-executed intro paragraph. I would add one more sentence expanding the idea of this preservation and how rhetorical tools beyond commonplaces also play into it. Overall, though, a great intro paragraph, and I am sure the entirety of it will also turn out great!
I like how you got right to the point and didn’t waste any time with unnecessary details. I also thought your use of anaphora to convey how much water impacts our lives was very effective. As long as you have a plan for how you are going to use your second artifact and what lenses you will analyze your first one through, everything looks good.
Your intro paragraph was quick but made your point clear. I enjoyed how you used more direct sentences to create a mental image of polluted water and the water we use every day. I think it may be helpful to mention the second civic artifact in your introduction to provide more context, but overall good job!
Your introduction is impactful as it highlights how the water we encounter and use within our daily lives is being affected due to water pollution. That being said, I think it would be effective if you mentioned your second artifact within your intro paragraph so the reader is familiar with both elements presented in your essay. Overall, I’m eager to see how you elaborate on these elements in your final essay!
