Research

I received my B.S. and M.S. in Biology at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. My previous research was on insect biodiversity in the salt marshes of the Long Island South Shore Estuary. I captured and identified around 40,000  specimens for my undergraduate thesis and another 10,000 specimens as part of my master’s work.

I recieved my PhD in Entomology at the Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA. I work with Andrew R. Deans and István Mikó on the systematics of Ceraphronoidea, a superfamily of parasitoid wasps that are commonly collected and are found across the world. Most of my work was on the family Megaspilidae, focusing on the genus Conostigmus.

Conostigmus is the largest megaspilid genus. The genus has a worldwide distribution and contains over 170 species. For my dissertation, I revised species found in North America, north of Mexico. As part of my work, I also studied Conostigmus species from Australia and Madagascar, as well as describing new species from other ceraphronoid genera.
