2008 Draft Class

This is a brand new Greatest of All time list, but instead of focusing on players, I will be focusing on the greatest draft classes of all time. Choosing which teams were truly the greatest was ultimately super tough, but overall I think that my list is spot on. There are definitely a few of you who may disagree with the ranking of each class, but this is solely my opinion that I have made based on the collection of facts.

So in that case, let us start off with a more recent draft class, 2008.

So far, the best player to come out of the draft class is Russell Westbrook. Currently on the Houston Rockets, Westbrook has had an astounding career that comprised of mostly individual success.

There were so many other talented players to come out of this draft class as well. In the first round 9 players were drafted that continue to put up respectable numbers. Of those players, true stars are Kevin Love, Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, and Deandre Jordan (who was drafted in the second round). Goran Dragic is another all star that was drafted in 2008 at pick 45.

For the real stars of this class though, Westbrook, Love, Rose proved that they are some of the NBA’s best for periods of time. Westbrook and Rose each have an MVP award, and Kevin Love was huge in bringing a title to Cleveland. Both Westbrook and Rose are known for their explosive abilities and the hustle that they put into the game. Westbrook is currently second all time in Triple Doubles only behind Oscar Robertson. Rose is the youngest MVP in NBA history winning the award at age 22. Even though the rest of his career was plagued with injuries, his comeback seasons in the last 2 years have shown why Rose is such an incredible player and is deserving  of a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Many other players in the 2008 draft have secured themselves roles as key bench players in the later portions of their careers, especially Eric Gordon. Gordon has won the Sixth Man of the Year award and showed in LA as well as Houston that he is a vital player when coming off the bench. His willingness to put the team first and come off the bench truly shows his worth as a player and why he is a critical piece for each contending team he has been on.
