My Proposal

1)  What is the broad topic you’d like to focus on?

• Advertising campaigns for fashion companies

2) What are some of the specific artifacts you might study (e.g. speeches, images, or instances of public discourse)?

• Victoria’s Secret

3) What are the main questions you’d like to answer?  What do you hope to learn from the project?

• Does sex really sell in advertising? Does this tactic work for Victoria’s Secret and their sales?
• Since a lot of younger girls between the ages of 12-18 are starting to wear Victoria’s Secret, is there a way to market to that age group more appropriately?

4)  What, in your view, makes the project/artifacts/questions significant? Why do you think this is worth studying?

• This is a topic definitely worth studying because Victoria’s Secret is known for their racy and revealing advertisements. This has caused a lot of controversy over the years and everyone has an opinion about it, whether they think it’s appropriate or not.
