I use twitter every day. I check it when I wake up and before I go to bed. Twitter is a quick and easy way that I can see how my friends and favorite celebrities are spending their day. Twitter is where most people post a couple words about how they are feeling, what they are doing, and an occasional picture. Twitter is changing our online life by making social media that is quick and easy to check and post. Many companies advertise here, and people can connect with others that they might not be able to see in person.
One strength of Twitter is being able to follow or unfollow people so that you can only see tweets from people that you want to see. Another strength is that people are only allowed to use up to 140 characters in each tweet. I feel like that is the prime number of characters for a good tweet. Not too many not too little. The Last strength of twitter is its layout. The center of the website is the timeline which is just a constant streaming of the most current tweets, the sides which have your pictures and tweet bar, and the other side which is full of trending topics. A weakness of twitter is there are many inactive accounts, and sometimes the advertising tweets take over my timeline, and I do not want to see them. But overall I feel like twitter is a great social media website and I would suggest others to use it.
In the group work, we had to promote and research Tumblr. We used hashtags, and retweeted from the Tumblr twitter page to create interest to our followers. I got one response, but I feel like we didn’t give it enough time. Each group tweeted #cas83 and it was awesome to see all the different tweets from the different groups about their website. I feel like if we had more time and mentioned more people in the tweets we would have been able to get more of a response to our Tumblr tweets.
My Facebook I had when I was in middle school and high school, then I switched over to twitter. My identity in both are similar. Other than some of my interest changing, I still followed the same people, have the same social capital, and still use the two social media websites the same way as in posting here and there and looking to see what my friends are doing.
