Penn State is planning to establish a site in the Center for e-Design, a National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry/University Cooperative Research Center. As part of this effort, a Strategic Planning Workshop was held June 8-10 at the Nittany Lion Inn for potential industry partners. During the workshop, researchers presented potential projects and industry/agency participants discussed their interests in each of these projects. Participants then had an opportunity to expand the discussion to include problem areas and topics not already covered in the formal presentations.
The mission and vision of the Center for e-Design: focused on the acceleration of product realization by developing and applying intelligent strategies and tools that integrate, leverage, and enable the processes, personnel, and data of design and manufacturing enterprises. New collaborative infrastructures that integrate and enable intelligent decision-making and processes throughout the supply chain are aimed at all stakeholders (SMEs and OEMs) involved in the design-manufacture-sustainment value stream.
