Center Stage to Host Regional Arts in Health Network Symposium
April 4-5, 2019 at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey Pa.
Across the nation, we are seeing a convergence of the arts and healthcare. Center Stage at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center enhances the healthcare experience by showcasing art, music, and creativity that calms, nurtures and inspires. The staff seeks ways to enhance the well-being of individuals who come through our doors, whether they are patients, visitors, health care providers, caregivers, employees or students.
Staff at Center Stage are founding members and leadership of the National Organization for Arts in Health (NOAH) whose vision is “Arts in Health is an integral component to health and wellbeing” and whose mission is “to serve and advance the field of arts in health.”
In an effort to replicate the NOAH initiative on a regional level, Center Stage is planning to host a symposium April 4-5, 2019, to bring together representatives from across Pennsylvania to elevate the field of Arts in Health.
Goals of the conference:
- Education for artists on the field of Arts in Health
- See a Sampling of our Artists in Action
- Find out More about Research, Funding and Evaluation of Programs
- Meet members of the NOAH Board of Directors
- Arts in Health Starter Toolkit
- How can the Arts Increase Patient Satisfaction Scores?
- How can the Arts Help to Diminish Medical Burnout?
As part of the conference, we plan to delineate opportunities for artists to partner with health care centers. We are committed to our art community and hope to spur opportunities and networking for artists around the state.
Another aspect of our programming will focus on the need for a commitment to diversity and inclusion with the artists and the art in health care setting. Our programs will be used as an example of making arts accessible to all of our hospital populations.
Our conference will positively affect the arts community in the commonwealth as we intend to raise awareness of the benefits of Arts in Health – a growing movement – and offer ways for people to engage and ignite programs in Pennsylvania.
