Visual Art-Making Workshops

Variety of visual art classes, taught by Judeth Hawkins held on Thursdays

Making Personal Mandalas   10/13/16 • 4:30-6:30 pm • T2500
Participants will be introduced to Mandala design and create their own mandalas.  As the Mandalas are created we will learn new techniques with colored pencils and be introduced to the art principles of balance and emphasis.
Seeing/Drawing   10/20/16 • 4:30-6:30 pm • T2500
An introduction to drawing for the non drawer.  Participants will practice observing familiar objects and begin to feel comfortable translating to the hand, what the eye is seeing.
Printmaking   10/27/16 • 4:30-6:30 pm • T2500
In this workshop, we will experiment with stenciling, relief printmaking, and monotype as we express with color and shape.
Weaving   11/3/16 • 4:30 – 6:30 pm • Room T3007
Discover the rhythm of weaving on hand made cardboard looms. Progress to the mastery of tapestry weaving.  Mats, bags and bookmarks will be made.

Judeth is a professional visual artist whose intensely personal work and unmistakable style has been recognized and awarded throughout the Mid Atlantic states.  She balances the solitude of personal studio work with the excitement of creating alongside others as a teaching artist.
