Bet you weren’t expecting a purple, fowl mouthed, Australian puppet to be this weeks comedian I will be talking about, but it is so deal with it. I discovered Randy over the summer and I immediately fell in love with him. The puppeteering alone is impressive, I mean its straight up Muppet quality, and if that doesn’t impress you then his comedy certainly will. Randy displays a very high, and life like stage presence, with energy that resonates with the audience so well that he seems less like a puppet and more like an actual living being. With out further delay, I present to you this diamond in the rough known as Randy Feltface.
(Why do I even try anymore, VIEWER DISCETION IS ADVISED)
Randy is certainly a lot to handle. He is very high energy and rarely lets off the gas pedal during the entire show. His jokes are brilliant but what really sells them is his ability to act life like while on stage. His sporadic, yet life like movements are very entertaining to watch and keep the viewers attention as well as invested in the routine. It would be hard to not be impressed with the puppetry behind Randy Feltface, and more so the amount of time spent preparing the act and being able to coordinate the movements and voice of the puppet at the same time for over an hour is nothing short of spectacular.

Just because this little guy is vulgar, doesn’t mean that he isn’t smart. Randy’s jokes are so well put together and are aimed for a more intelligent crowd. He is a bit of an observational comedian who likes to touch up on all the subjects that todays youth are talking about, and give his own opinions on said issues. Randy also doesn’t merely bash or praise a topic, but rather gives a bit of meaningful insight, demonstrating that he has thought honestly about the topic. Furthermore he does provide evidence for any claim that he does make which only adds to his argument. His routines are like TED talks but actually entertaining, and hell you’ll actually remember a thing or two.
(Viewer Discretion Is Advised)
For a while, Randy had teamed up with fellow Australian comedian Sammy J. The two had preformed lived together all around the world preforming light hearted comedy and the pair went together like Jack and Coke. Randy was still his deviant self, while Sammy played a more innocent and family friendly role while on stage. The two even have a TV show in Australia that has been on since 2015, where the two of them play roommates, and go on misadventures while trying to conquer everyday problems. There is something sweet though in watching to comedians work together. Both of them bring out the best in each other while simultaneously challenging each others styles, allowing them to constantly grow as comics and provide us with fresh and funny jokes to laugh at.
(Watch from 1:06:30, he swears twice but you’ll be okay)
As we reach the half way point of these blogs, I would like to start to explain why I choose these upcoming comics as my favorites and why everyone should know these individuals. The best comics don’t just make us laugh, they also teach us and make us think. I highly advise watching the clip above to get an idea of what I’m talking about. At the end of his show, Randy becomes honest with the audience, and states that he doesn’t view himself as a memorable human being. He then talks about the idea that humans always feel the need to make a name and legacy for themselves, and he poses the question “Must we leave a legacy?'”. In the last few minutes of his special, Randy has total silenced his monologue about the meaning of life and living a lie without fear from rejection and failure, and how we should live that way, and instead do whatever our hearts desire. These short monologues are sprinkled thoughout his specail, but it is his closing statements that will make any viewer feel inspired. There are few comics out there that can speak with such weight and deepness that can move an entire audience, which is why we should all pay attention to this little purple Australian puppet.

This contradiction between a puppet, which we usually think of as for children, paired with adult comedy is interesting! I can’t fully imagine a swearing puppet but I guess I’ll have to check it out and see. I also think that the insertion of monologues about real-life issues is an interesting concept to add here.

I’m honestly amazed at your repertoire of comics. Seeing Randy reminded me of Jeff Dunham, who also has a bit of crude humor at times and actually came to Penn State this past year. I’d be interested to see your take on his work.

I’ve been genuinely enjoying your blog this entire time, but this post takes the cake. It’s always hilarious to see a genuinely original character onstage telling jokes, since it becomes more dynamic than just a comedian speaking to the audience.

I have done some puppeteering in my day and it is so hard to do a good job, so props to this comedian. I went to the Jeff Dunham show last year at the BJC and found myself really enjoying the show, so I think I will check this guy out too. I really liked how you have expanded across different genres of comedians, it is pretty impressive!
