Brainstorming for RCL II

Identity for me has more recently been a significant focus of my life, since starting college I have found myself revisiting the topic often. For my “This I Believe” podcast, I was deciding between my religion and my love of learning. My religion defines who I am, and I have gone to church all my life. I participate in a lot of Christian clubs that I really resonate with and have met lots of friends in. I thoroughly enjoy learning and often find myself looking for more to learn every day, whether it has to do with my family heritage, cultures around the world, native plant species to Pennsylvania, local or global history, or archery. While I might not necessarily enjoy school or formal education, learning will always be an important belief and identity of mine.

My Passion Blog in RCL I looked at various cultures around the world that piqued my interest, allowing me to research their language, customs, traditions, cuisine, geography, and many more fascinating facts that made them unique. I think a very interesting route to approach the Civic Issues blog would be to incorporate my past topic of cultures around the world with politics or sustainability. Sustainability has become an important topic for me recently, and it would be very interesting to research how different communities around the world are being influenced by or are changing how the world views sustainability. In the past, I also have researched the government types of some cultures which has been interesting, so I would be willing to dive deeper into political issues among larger cultures around the world. If I were to change my Passion Blog from what I have now, however, I would focus on an architectural study either around campus or around the world.

  1. I really like your ideas for both your blog as well as for the “This I Believe” project. I also relate to your passion of learning and could see that as a good topic for the project. I think you could reflect on a lot of experiences you have had with learning and know how to apply that to others. I am excited to see what you do!

  2. These are all great ideas for your “This I Believe” and blogs. I like the idea of different cultures around the world for blogs and comparing their civic issues because each culture focuses on different issues. With that, you can incorporate sustainability because I think that is a big civic issue for many cultures. For you “This I Believe” I think the love of learning is great because you are constantly learning so much separate from what we learn in the classroom. Cannot wait to read more!

  3. Starting with your blog ideas, I think you have great ideas that can easily be developed into smaller, more specific blog posts. I think it would also be cool if you somehow combined your interest in different cultures and sustainability, maybe looking at how sustainability takes place in different parts of the world/cultures.

For your “This I believe” topics, I think these are great too. Both sound like would be interesting and catch the attention of listeners. I think you may have an easier time sharing specific narrations about the religion topic, but both I can see turning into great projects.
