Celebrating Chemical Engineering at PSU since 1924!

This upcoming academic year, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Chemical Engineering at Penn State. The roots of Chemical Engineering at Penn State were established in 1888, when the Chemistry department was founded. Industrial Chemistry emerged as an academic program within the Chemistry department in 1902.  In 1924, the first Chemical Engineering curriculum was implemented. Our first Chemical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree were awarded at the end of the 1924-1925 academic year, and now 100 years on, we celebrate the Centennial!
