Our mission can be broken down into four goals. Our primary goal is to provide professional development opportunities for chemistry graduate students. We have hosted a number of seminars from individuals from industry, academia, and government.

Another goal of our organization is to involve chemistry graduate students in community outreach. We regularly participate in Exploration U and Discovery Space, two on-campus opportunities for sharing science with children. Our members have also been on discussion panels for undergraduates who wished to learn more about graduate school.
The PSU chemistry GSA is also involved in recruiting and retaining new graduate students. We have implemented a new mentoring program to pair incoming graduate students with more senior students. It is our hope that our mentors can help new students find labs and give to give them guidance as needed.
Our final goal is to foster a sense of community within our department. We have hosted coffee hours, a picnic in the park, gatherings to see profession sports or speakers on campus, and happy hours for our members.
