As soon as I started flying all of my friends began asking when I could fly them around. I was beyond excited to find out that I actually could take passengers up with only a Student Pilot’s License as long as there was a flight instructor on board. My best friend since elementary school was an obvious choice for my first passenger.

My friend road along with me to my flight lesson to see if my instructor would be okay with me bringing someone along on our lesson that day. It was a beautiful sunny day and it was perfect weather for flying. Not only was he 100% okay with us taking her out, but he asked if I wanted to postpone my lesson plans for the day to fly to Pittsburgh.

The flight to Pittsburgh from the small airport that I fly out of only takes around 15 minutes but I had never done it before. I had seen some of the pictures that my friends had taken during their flights around the city and I was really excited to check out the views for myself.

My friend had never been in anything smaller than a commercial jet before so she seemed a little bit nervous climbing into the four-seater Cessna 172 that we would be taking around the city of steel. The flight was amazing though.

We had a smooth ride to the city and we saw a surprisingly large number of mansions tucked away on the flight there. Once we got to the city we just started doing laps around maintaining a safe altitude and distance from the buildings. The views were incredible and we even got a few friends that live downtown to look outside and see us circling up above.

  1. I was lucky enough to be Cheyenne’s first passenger on a flight! It was an amazing experience. Cheyenne is a skilled and confident pilot and it was very interesting to learn more about the process of becoming a licensed commercial pilot while also taking in some great views of the city of Pittsburgh!

  2. A little jealous that your mom wasn’t your first passenger but I am so proud of you regardless
