Children’s Eating Behavior Lab

our goal: We strive to understand how eating behaviors develop in children and help children live healthier lives

Welcome!

Thanks for visiting the website for the Children’s Eating Behavior Laboratory directed by Kathleen L. Keller, PhD! We are interested in the “how” and the “why” of human eating behaviors. For example, why will some children eat their broccoli, and others push it away? Why do increased portions of food promote excess intake? How do food commercials influence our behaviors?  Why will some of us eat sweets, even though we aren’t hungry? These are some of the questions that we study in our lab. We approach these questions from an interdisciplinary developmental framework, using methods and approaches from nutrition, physiology, psychology, neuroscience, food science, marketing, and decision making to shape our science. Thanks for visiting our website!
